“To the Mountains and Seas” New Year's Eve Theme Double Exhibition

Time: 2024.11.30-2025.02.28
Venue: Xi'an City | SONGCASA Art Space

On November 23, SONGCASA, a lifestyle and aesthetics space under Wanzhong Group, joined forces with the Tibetan weaving brand Shanfu to create a New Year's Eve art exhibition with the theme “To the Mountains and Seas”.

Even if you roam the wilderness, you will never take what is not yours; if your heart is in the wilderness, you will praise nature. Infused with awe for the mountains and the sea, humans have used the wisdom of manual artistry to create a constant stream of aesthetics that is not affected by the dimensions of time and space.

The “To the Mountains and Seas” dual-theme exhibition is a fusion of two elements: “To the Mountains” – a New Year's Eve exhibition of collectible hand-woven art, and “Sea Treasures” – a New Year's Eve exhibition of classic furniture designs from the past century. It presents the cultural exchange and collision between the weaving culture of the Tibetan region and the century-old global classic designs.

Shanfu – A New Year's Eve Exhibition of Collectible Hand-Woven Art, features more than 40 collectible hand-woven Tibetan carpets from CHANGPHEL Shanfu. Using portraits of Tibetan craftspeople as a guide, the exhibition showcases the complex hand-weaving techniques that have been passed down for thousands of years. More than 20 processes and more than 700 hours of hand-weaving are required to create a Tibetan carpet. Hai Zang – A Century of Classic Furniture Design New Year's Eve Exhibition, showcasing century-old classic designs from different countries and regions around the world, including China, the United States, France, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Japan, etc. Through the classic works of design masters from different periods, cultural backgrounds and regions, and using furniture as a carrier, the exhibition showcases the visual aesthetics of the times and the cultural spirit expressed behind the designs.

SONGCASA has joined forces with a number of classic furniture brands including CHANGPHEL Mountain, Pingri Mid-Century, U+, and cassina. With the theme of “Mountain and Sea,” the exhibition links the aesthetics of hand-woven art with classic home design. For the opening ceremony, we specially invited A-Jia Yixi Ji from Tibet to come to the scene to present the cultural heritage of Tibetan weaving art to the public and provide guests with handicraft interactive experience of hand weaving, illustrating in the space the purity of the local culture of the hand weaving techniques of northern Tibet and southern Shannan, outlining the development of the era and cultural origins of the hand weaving art of Tibet, while integrating the design of classic furniture from a century ago, making the space a container for both “home” and “art”, skillfully blending the two, and presenting the public with a new aesthetic living atmosphere and visual sublimation.
