Two Cities of Tang Poetry and Song Lyrics” is a large-scale national orchestral piece that interprets the cultural heritage behind the Tang poems and Song lyrics by taking the prosperity of Chang'an and the softness of Hangzhou as a guide. The eight movements, like a historical scroll, recreate the actual scenes, feelings and sensations of those years. From the exciting “First Encounter - Dreaming of Chang'an”, “Getting to Know Each Other - Embroidered Chang'an”, “Flowering - Glazed Years”, “Farewell - Memories of Chang'an”, to the smoky and rainy “Walking in the City - Song City Wells”, “Watching the Tide - Watching the Qiantang River”, “Enjoying the Lake - Dreaming of Drunken Xizi”, “A Thousand Years”, and “A Thousand Years”. -Dreaming of Drunken Xizi”, ‘The Road of a Thousand Years’, each chapter is a heartfelt tribute to the ancient literati and artists. The large-scale national orchestra work “Two Cities of Tang Poetry and Song Lyrics” takes Chang'an and Hangzhou under the Tang Poetry and Song Lyrics as the entry point, and insights into the culture behind the words, and outlines the prosperity of Chang'an and the softness and beauty of Hangzhou in the musical language. Each movement brings back to the audience the actual scenes, feelings and sensations of the authors of the Tang poems and Song lyrics.

The first movement “First Encounter - Dreaming of Chang'an” uses percussion to imitate the sound of horses' hooves to ring the opening chapter, rhythmic and powerful, grand and majestic; the second movement “Acquaintance - Embroidered Chang'an” seems to be immersed in the sound of pipa in the Embroidered Chang'an; the third movement “Flowering - Glazed Years” appreciates all the splendor of the world's fireworks; the fourth movement “Farewell - Memory of Chang'an” remembers the softness and tenderness of the Chang'an, remembers the former people and scenery of the Chang'an and remembers the Chang'an again. Chen Jiexuan

Chen Jiexuan is a national-level conductor, with double master degrees in conducting and management, a “1111” stage art talent of Zhejiang Province, and is currently the music director and permanent conductor of Zhejiang Performing Arts-Zhejiang Folk Orchestra.

She is a part-time professor and master's tutor of Shanghai Normal University, guest professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, music director of the welcome and farewell banquet of the Head of State for the 2023 Asian Games, conductor of the “Yingle Zhiyin” World Chinese Women Conductors, guest conductor of Shanghai Peking Opera Theater, and conductor of the Jiujiang Symphony Orchestra of Jiangxi Province.

Luo Jing is a zither player, professor of guzheng at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and doctoral supervisor. Director of Guzheng Society of China Musicians Association, Visiting Professor of Guizhou University, Approver of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Artistic Director of Luo Jing Guzheng Art Troupe and Hefeng Shaohua Zither Orchestra. She studied under the famous guzheng educator and performer Mr. and Mrs. He Baoquan and Sun Wenyan. She has served in the Shanghai National Orchestra and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and was the principal of the zheng. During her time in Hong Kong, she hibernated at the Department of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong University of Education and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

In 1989, she won the first prize in the Junior Professional Group of the ART Cup International Competition of Chinese Musical Instruments, and has participated in four consecutive performances of the Shanghai Spring Festival since 1993, and won the Music Performance Award. 1995, she won the second prize in the Youth Group of the Oriental Cup National Guzheng Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, and gave her debut solo recital at Carnegie Hall in the United States of America in 1999. She has visited more than twenty countries and regions, including Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, Taiwan and Macau.

Tang Xiaofeng is a contemporary Chinese pipa player, associate professor of the Department of Folk Music of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and tutor of master's degree students. She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music successively, and studied under the famous pipa player educator and doctoral supervisor Prof. Li Jingman and Prof. Zhang Qiang.

In 2011, she won the first silver medal in the pipa competition of China Music Golden Bell Award, and in 2012, she won the gold medal in the first Liaoyuan Cup National Pipa Competition. He is a member of the Innovation Team of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a high-level talent introduced by Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a winner of Shanghai May Fourth Youth Medal, a title of Shanghai Outstanding Literary Artist, a deputy director of Pipa Specialized Committee of Shanghai Musicians' Association, a deputy secretary-general of Pipa Society of China Music Association, and a council member of Chinese Folk Orchestral Music Society.

Chen Hongxuan

Bamboo Flute Performer

Chen Hongxuan is a young bamboo flute player, a teacher of bamboo flute in the Department of Folk Music of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a doctor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a director of the Bamboo Flute Committee of Shanghai Musicians' Association, and a deputy director of the Chinese Bamboo Flute Orchestra of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She studied with Prof. Tang Junqiao, a famous flute player, educator and doctoral supervisor.

In 2012, she was awarded the Gold Medal in the Fourth National Youth Ethnic Instrument Performance Competition of the Ministry of Culture's “Wenhua Prize” (wind instrument category); in 2014, she was awarded the Gold Medal in the Fifth National Youth Ethnic Instrument Performance Competition of the Ministry of Culture's “Wenhua Prize” for the second consecutive time (bamboo flute solo category). Shaanxi Radio and Television National Orchestra was founded in 1950 under Shaanxi Provincial Radio and Television Bureau.
